Presentation

The Lyon Comics Festival brings comic art to the heart of France’s third largest city, illustrating the infinite forms of a genre that simply knows no limits. A showcase of authentic comic art, more alive than ever thanks to the creative and dramatic force it wields. Graphic novel bookworms, inquisitive bibliophiles, budding storytellers or avid collectors: the Lyon Comics Festival welcomes anyone and everyone who shares a love of the ninth art.

Ever since its inaugural event in 2006, the festival has continued to grow and attract increasing numbers of authors to the city of Lyon. After starting out in the Croix-Rousse district, it soon took over the Palais de la Bourse and then the entire presqu’ïle city centre. Designed to be a major celebration of comic art in the city, the Lyon Comics Festival has gone on to become one of the biggest events of its kind, bringing together almost 300 artists and 80,000 visitors every June.

Lyon BD has also set its sights further afield in recent years, travelling to the four corners of the globe in search of ambitious projects and original creations with the aim of offering an international outlook on the comic book genre.
